<p>If you already suffer from back pain, did you know that your office chair maybe adding to the problem? Your office chair may not be helping your back problem at all. In fact a low quality office chair can actually be causing more damage to an injured back. Office chairs can cause an increase in pain in the neck, back, arms and shoulders. As a matter of fact the way<span id="more-196"></span> some office chairs are constructed, they can and extra pressure to an already aching back, and add extra stress to the spinal discs.</p>
<p>However, while back pain is indeed a common condition that happens to four out of five adults, what most people don&#8217;t know about it is that it could be a symptom of a far more serious disorder. In fact, most chronic forms of back pain (lasting for more than two months) are actually symptoms of serious diseases, such as arthritis, osteoporosis, scoliosis, cervical spondylosis, spinal cancer, bone cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crone&#8217;s disease, mittelschmerz, cervix cancer, tuberculosis, meningitis, among others. Also being overweight can cause back pain.</p>
<p>Because of gravity, blood in the legs wants to settle there, leaving the heart to work harder. Even when sitting for long periods can lead to back pain and weight gain. Sitting in the wrong position for prolonged periods with the neck turned up or turned down can be the cause cervical spine soreness and other problems.</p>
<p>Gall bladder back pain is a condition that occurs when the gall bladder is inflamed due to improper functioning. It is a sure sign of underlying problems within your gall bladder. Gall bladder back pain is one of the common symptoms of gall bladder disease, a disorder that mainly affects women (although it could affect men, as well), and causing symptoms that vary widely from discomfort to severe pain.</p>
<p>Baby carriers do not need to hurt your back. If you&#8217;re wearing them correctly, you&#8217;ll feel the weight of the baby, but it shouldn&#8217;t be so painful that you need to take pain meds.<br />
<br />Pregnant women often complain of back pain problems. This is very common as almost as high as 80 percent of women face back pains during some stage or the other of their pregnancies.</p>
<p>Because if the occurring back pain is persistent e.g. Unfortunately since back muscles are the hardest working muscle group in the body, back pains are a frequent occurrence which indirectly effects it being the hardest to identify condition. <p>Although no one treatment works for everyone, many aspects of yoga make it ideal for treating back pain and neck pain. <p>Scoliosis is a condition in which a person has side-to-side spinal curves in addition to the normal curves through which the lower portion of the human back curves inwards. The most effective remedy for such a condition is Scoliosis exercises. Although many exercises help in reducing the Scoliosis-related problems, yoga is considered the best Scoliosis exercise. Yoga postures are helpful since they enable us to stretch our body.</p>
<p>The most effective yoga exercises for the treatment of scoliosis-related problems include the Crocodile twist, the Supine knee chest twist, the passive back arch and the one leg up-one leg out posture. <p>Whether through injury or strain, chronic back pain can affect your quality of life and peace of mind. If your back pain was caused by an injury, then time and proper care will help it to heal and get you back in balance. For now, all you may be able to do it manage the pain. Let&#8217;s look at some effective ways that you can do that.</p>
<p>The first way is physiotherapy. If you&#8217;ve had an injury, then you&#8217;ll need to see your doctor about getting a referral to a qualified physiotherapist. It may take several weeks for you to get some relief but it will be worth it. You might also try a chiropractor or a massage therapist. It all depends on the reason for your back pain. If it was an injury, you&#8217;ll probably need physiotherapy and if your back pain is caused by strain or stress, you&#8217;ll probably want to visit a chiropractor or registered massage therapist. Many health care plans include funds for care from these types of professionals so if you have a health care plan, check out your options.</p>
<p>A second way is yoga. If you&#8217;ve never practiced yoga, this suggestion might immediately conjure up images of serene looking people tying themselves into pretzel like poses and that&#8217;s probably not appealing to you. However, there are many styles of yoga and different teaching styles so that I would suggest you not write it off as an option until you investigate it a little further. Many yoga enthusiasts have reported that the practice has cured them or various physical ailments from back pain to fibromyalgia. See if you can find a yoga teacher in your area that teaches a therapeutic or gentle style of yoga. If you&#8217;re new, you can usually attend your first class for a lower than normal fee or completely free &#8211; it depends on the studio. When you get there, speak to your teacher to let them know of your problems and they should be able to recommend some specific poses to help you. Also, while in class, make sure that you don&#8217;t push yourself. Competitive personalities have a tendency to overdo it when they first attend yoga and it&#8217;s important to take it easy, never go so deep into a pose that it causes you pain.</p>
<p>The third way to relieve back pain is by using relaxation techniques. More and more, there is evidence that pain and illness is caused primarily by stress. So, it follows that if you learn to relax more, you&#8217;ll be in better health. There are various relaxation techniques you can try but one of my favourites is plain old fashioned meditation. If that sounds too boring or hard for you, it&#8217;s good sign that you need to try it. And, if you think that you might benefit from listening to a music CD (one with ocean waves for example) while meditating &#8211; go for it! Whatever works for you is ultimately the best method.</p>

<p>There are so many poses within yoga that help your back. You might even think they invented yoga specifically to relief back pain! In fact, many believe that yoga back exercises are the most effective way to treat problems in your spinal area. If have yet to give yoga back exercises a shot, you can not afford to wait any longer.</p>
<p>Now before you run to the gym to sign<span id="more-194"></span> up for your first yoga class, please make sure your doctor clears you for exercise. Once you have that covered, it is okay to run down there and get started.</p>
<p>If you are still skeptical that yoga can help your back, here are some helpful poses you can try at home before you sign up for a class. It is a beginner yoga back routine that is easy to remember since every pose begins with a &#8220;C.&#8221;</p>
<p>1.) The Child pose</p>
<p>First, kneel down and bring your feet together. Next, breathe in and sit on your heels. After you are in position, spread your knees about a shoulder width apart. Breathe out and bring your chest down to your legs. If you can, scoot your pelvis in as tight as you can. The final step is to stretch out your hands in front of you. You can hold this pose for as long as you like. I would recommend around thirty seconds for beginners.</p>
<p>2.) The Cobra pose</p>
<p>First, lie belly down on the floor with your legs fully extended backwards. Put your hands beneath your shoulders. Your elbows should be at a hard angle. Next, push into the floor with your legs and inhale a deep breathe. Push your chest up, but try as hard as you can to keep your hips touching the ground. This should arch your back inward and give you a nice stretch. Hold the position for about thirty seconds and continue to breathe. After your thirty seconds are up, go back to the starting position.</p>
<p>3.) The Corpse Pose</p>
<p>The first step for this pose is to lie on your back belly up. Lay your arms next to your body. Now close your eyes and imagine you are like water. Basically, let go of every muscle in your body so that you are completely relaxed. Next, meditate on each part of your body starting at the bottom and working your way to the top. This asana takes much longer than the other two. I would recommend doing it for as long as ten or fifteen minutes or at least until you feel relaxed.</p>
<p>These yoga back asanas are a great starting point to help relieve pain in your spinal area. I highly recommend exploring more yoga by attending classes at local gym, or by finding an instructor. Having an instructor to talk to is key to developing the right technique. Beyond that, finding an outside resource like a good book or video can also be a big help to finding the most efficient yoga back exercises.</p>

<p>I have really terrible posture and I am having severe back problems and pains and am only 16 years old.  I am thinking about getting some sort of back brace or support to hold and train everything to be in the correct position. <p>A 2005 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that practicing yoga postures was more effective than traditional treatments for chronic lower-back pain. Here&#8217;s a little guide to a pose for the achey places.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a Half Locust Variation:</p>
<p>Lie on your stomach, head turned to the left and hands crossed over the lower back with palms up. On an inhale lift your chest and head, stretch the left hand out in front of you, palm down, upper arm alongside your ear. At the same time lift your right leg about 6 inches off the floor while turning your head toward the centre.</p>
<p>On an exhalation lower your head, chest, and leg and bring the outstretched left arm behind you to rest ion your back. As you lower your head, turn it to the right and return it to the mat (the reverse of your starting position). Repeat on the other side. When your ready, repeat the set six times, each time bringing the leg slightly higher. This will be good for helping your back pain.</p>
<p>There are several ways in which the human body feeds back relative to what you are doing with and to it. Part of this feedback system is a pain response. The pain response comes in several forms, levels, or degrees. For example an achey pain might indicate stretching of muscle. A sharp pain might indicate excess elasticity demanded on the tendon.</p>

<p><b>What&#039;s the best way to treat lordosis (lower back pain, tilted pelvis)?</b>
<p>I would like to try to sort out my back problem before I get older and the problem gets worse (I&#039;m a 35yr old female).  I haven&#039;t been diagnosed with having lordosis, but it&#039;s quite obvious to me to see and feel that my pelvis is tilted and my spine is far too curved.</p>
<p>I&#039;m<span id="more-191"></span> wondering what would be the best way to treat this.  </p>
<p>I would like to see a chiropracter and get an xray and get assessed.  The only reason I haven&#039;t been to see one yet is because I don&#039;t want to be going a few times a week, longterm as I can&#039;t afford it.  Does anyone have any experience of getting it treated with a chiropracter, like how long would it usually take to get my pelvis/spine back into position.  I know everyone is different, but if anyone has a rough idea then it would help me.  </p>
<p>Doing weights for stomach, back, legs &#8211; would this help in any way.  Would yoga make any difference?</p>
<p>I don&#039;t do any exercise, and I sit all day in work which I&#039;d imagine doesn&#039;t help any.  </p>
<p>I went to my GP once as my back was really stiff at the time.  If I bent over for about 10 mins (washing my hair over the bath) I found it really difficult to get back up again.  Luckily my new bed has helped and I&#039;m not so stiff anymore, but the only thing the doctor did was to give me a No for a physiotherapist.  I&#039;ve heard that there&#039;s not really much that they can do, has anyone had any luck using them?</p>

<p>Normal and short-term phenomenon</p>
<p>Early pregnancy back pain is a normal phenomenon in this most beautiful period of a woman&#8217;s life. Most of the expectant mothers witness some degree of back pain during the early phase of pregnancy and this pain generally subsides after about 20 weeks. Backache or spasm, which is reflected by stretching of muscles or burning pain in the left or the right side of the quadrant, is normally the result of the softening of the supporting ligaments and disks due to an increase in the progesterone hormone during the early stage. In some cases, urinary infection during pregnancy can also result in pain in the back amongst pregnant women. The extra weight of a pregnant women&#8217;s body and the change in her centre of gravity also result in backaches and pain.</p>
<p>Remedies For Pregnancy Back Pain </p>
<p>The most important and safe remedy for the treatment of early pregnancy back pain is exercising. This is mainly because certain medications for back related pain is contraindicated during early pregnancy. Walking, pelvic rocking, bridging (done by lying down on the floor, bending your knees and lifting your buttocks into air), mini-crunches (done by lying down on the floor), bending your knees and lifting your head on exhalation, are good exercises for relief from pack pain during early pregnancy. Pregnant women do these exercises on their own to relieve back pain.</p>
<p>The right body posture and good body mechanics also play an important role in keeping one free of early pregnancy back pain. The right posture for prevention of back pain is standing straight and tall. However, the importance for correct postures is as essential in early pregnancy as before that. However, in late pregnancy, as the uterus becomes big, one tends to pull back her shoulders to offset the additional weight, which results in a back strain. You can reduce this pain during later stages in such a position by frequently changing your sitting position and avoiding standing for long periods.</p>
<p>Adequate rest and sleep are also essential for avoiding or eliminating early pregnancy back pain. You should take proper rest and avoid strenuous activities to avoid it during your pregnancy. You can also do normal yoga exercises to eliminate minor pain. However, if it persists you should consult your doctor and take proper medication for relief from back pain. In some cases of pain in the back, doctors may prescribe physiotherapy for relief. Massages and use of special mattresses are also effective for back pain relief during pregnancy.</p>

<p>The Chakras</p>
<p>What are Chakras ?</p>
<p>&#8216;Chakra&#8217; originates from a sanskrit word which means &#8216;wheel&#8217;. If you work with chakras you can see them as individual primary Chakras as a rotating vortex or a wheel of energy, each one relating to the others. The energy spinning inwards towards the center point of that charkra on the front of the body then spinning outwards from<span id="more-188"></span> the back at the same point as the front. There are hundreds of secondary chakras located throughout the body otherwise known as meridians which are used for acupuncture but there are seven primary chakra points. Just for your information, the Kundalini is a coil of energy and is fixed at the base of the spinal column. There are references of the word in the Old Testament where there are clues of Moses using the practice and its effects, the burning of the bush is one metaphor. There are numerous religious metaphors for the process as the serpent energy is raised to the head.</p>
<p>Where are the Chakras ?</p>
<p>They start from the base of the spine, each with its own colour, in a line, moving up the spinal column up through and onto the head on the Kundalini. </p>
<p>Base chakra,red: Found at the base of the spine. Is deeply rooted, its the grounding force allowing us to connect to the energies of the earth filling us with empowerment. The adrenal glands and anus are related to the root chakra, In order to function properly and effectively, the root chakra needs to be grounded, without this you are spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically clumsy. Grounding on a daily basis enhances effective functioning. Root/Base chakra stones: Ruby and red coral. Root/Base chakra foods: Food rich in protein, Root vegetables and hot peppery spices. </p>
<p>Sacral Chakra,Orange: Found in the lower abdomen. When functioning correctly can help balance the yin-yang. This is where an individual&#8217;s creativity side is centred, it is also primarily thought of as the centre for the sexual energy. Also connected to the sacral chakra are sexual energy in general, emotions, vitality, reproduction, and fertility, if you are having any difficulties with these areas, then this chakra needs to be unblocked, this can be achieved by physical transmission of rhythmic energy. Sacral Chakra stones: Tigers eye, Garnet, Moonstone and carnelian. Sacral Chakra foods: Nuts, Honey, spices such as Vanilla, Carob, Caraway seeds, Sesame seeds, Cinnamon and sweet paprika.<br />

 Sweet fruits such as coconuts, oranges, Mangos, Melons, Strawberries, passion fruit and many more. </p>
<p>Solar Plexus Chakra, yellow: Found in the naval area and is related to our self-esteem. During puberty and the development of the ego is found here. This is where you delve into the self to find your inner balance and boundary point. from here you find who you are and how to control your thoughts, your inner understanding of the physical world. Relating to the digestive system, the solar plexus chakra is associated with action, empowerment, assertiveness and the ego. The life force or chi is found here if not functioning correctly can lead you to feeling tired, with drawn and powerless. Solar Plexus chakra stones: Citrine, jasper and Topaz. Solar Plexus chakra foods: carbohydrate, whole foods. </p>
<p>Heart Chakra, Green or Pink: Found in the heart area, the heart chakra is viewed as the love centre of the energy system. Also associated with Fear, Love, Pain, Grief, Heartbreak and other emotions intensely felt in this energy centre, this is where the art of positive thinking comes in to play, by loving the self and believing in the self is a healthy form of therapy to build on balancing the heart chakra it is the purest form of healing. Placed where the unconditional love is based, it is a creative and powerful energy often leading and guiding us through unsettled times, it is constantly there and only needs our attention in order to free us from our limitations and fears. Always try not to judge, but understand and accept. Always try to love instead of hate. As long as we maintain a positive and loving thinking pattern creates a safe happy space for our selves. Heart chakra stones: Rose quartz and rhodonite. Heart chakra foods: Vegetables which are leafy, peas, avocados, kiwi fruit, green peppers, green apples, green grapes, and broccoli.</p>
<p>Throat Chakra, sky Blue: Found in the throat area, the centre of our voice, here we are able to express ourselves, the point of communications. In order to maintain a healthy throat chakra we must express ourselves honestly and openly, by telling untruths or by deception to others only blocks the throat Chakras by energetically polluting it, it not only violates the ears of the listener but also our own bodies and spirits are harmed. Laryngitis, strep throat and speech impediments are the cause of imbalance caused if we fail to express our true feelings or try to evade our true words. Tell the truth with out being harsh, try to be humble, open and receptive, when judgement impales your thought, try to look inside and find the truth, when we look inside for the truth, we trust our own initiative. Throat chakra stones: Aquamarine, Chrysocolla, Sapphire, Lapis, Sodalite, Lapis Lazuli, and blue topaz. Throat chakra foods: Blue cabbage, Blueberries and eggplant. </p>
<p>Brow Chakra, Indigo: Found on the brow, also known as the third eye chakra, related to our mental calculations and thought process. Through the third eye chakra, we are able to assess our past experiences our life patterns putting them all into perspective. Through the third eye chakra we are able to separate fantasy from reality enabling us to understand what we see physically and mentally. A receptive brow chakra that auric hues and other visual insights are intuited clairvoyantly. This chakra is related to inner vision, imagination and physical abilities also to the pituitary gland as is a link between the inner and outer world of our being. When the brow chakra is not functioning correctly, there can be problems with headaches and eye tension. Brow/Third eye chakra stones: Blue Obsidian, Celestite, Blue Tourmaline, Amethyst, Lavender Quartz, Garnet, and Lepidolite. Brow/Third eye chakra foods: Grapes, brinjals and Asparagus.</p>
<p>Crown Chakra, Violet or White: Found on the top of the head, when functioning correctly this chakra allows the inner communication between the spiritual nature to take place. Once opened the crown chakra acts as a pathway for the universal life force<br />

Often considered as the lotus flower, its petals are seen as a spiritual awakening, The Crown chakra, like a bottomless well, is where intuitive knowledge is drawn from. The crown chakra is related to the pineal gland. When you are able to connect to the Christ consciousness it is said that we are able to release all that is negative which are born from old past negative influences. Our fear turns to courage, and guilt turns to acceptance. Crown chakra stones: Golden Beryl, Howlite, Lavender Quartz, Amethyst, Ametrine, and Diamonds. <hr /><b>Can Yoga Fix Scoliosis, even just a little?</b>
<p>I notice I had scoliosis (seems to be structural )when I was 13 or 14 and I was told to wear a brace. I didn&#039;t know that the brace won&#039;t actually help fix or permanently straighten your spine but I thought it would so i wore it. After almost a year I gave up because it started to hurt more than it first did (couldn&#039;t even sleep) and one of my shoulder went up higher than my other. During that time, i was already busy with schoolwork and i thought I could just live the condition that I forgot about it for awhile. But then a year later, I felt insecure about many things and sometimes my friends or family notice I walk kinda crooked (my mom would walk behind me to tell to walk straighter), it was uncomfortable and I did had some back aches. So I went to a chiropractor and he said he could fix my spine back to normal but&#8230;it didn&#039;t and my father wasted his money for massages that was less than 5 minutes. He gave me exercises to do and i did them for awhile but school and other things took over, I did less and after a few months I really didn&#039;t do any at all. I stopped seeings the chiropractor after noticing there was just no change and how much money was wasted. </p>
<p>Now I&#039;m 17 and it&#039;s strange to say this out of nowhere but does scoliosis affect your height? i haven&#039;t grown since I was 15 or maybe 16 awhile my friends have, or is it because&#8230;I&#039;m slowing down with my growth?</p>
<p>Just recently I went to see another doctor again and he saw my x-rays and politely told me that there was just no way I could fix it, it couldn&#039;t be fix since the start. Since it&#039;s a 15 degrees curve, he told me not to worry and that I am just normal. <br />
Yet right now, I can&#039;t help but search for a solution. So far, the only way is surgery but I don&#039;t want it, especially if they told me it&#039;s not serious and I&#039;ll have serious side effects. Lately, I have been exercising out more than i usually did in order to keep healthy and prevent from having back aches (so far no back aches), I wish I did exercises more often when i was younger. Besides surgery, i notice someone had said yoga was good for you and it might straighten your spine, even though they didn&#039;t said it&#039;ll correct scoliosis but aren&#039;t they the same? I think someone posted something on the web that it was Elise Miller who overcame scoliosis with a certain type of yoga. But I really like to know if that&#039;s true even it just makes the spine a little straighter. If anyone have personally or know someone who overcame scoliosis with yoga, I&#039;ll like to know how you or they did it. I appreciate a direct answer that comes from anyone first hand experience.  </p>
